Alice Hoffman (rođena je 16. marta 1952. u New Yorku, a odrasla je na Long Islandu), američka književnica.

Nakon završene srednje škole 1969, pohađala je Univerzitet Adelphi. Njen prvi posao bio je u izdavačkoj kući „Doubleday“, pod čijim okriljem su kasnije objavljena dva njena romana.

Hoffman se može pohvaliti sa 100 stranih izdanja njenih romana, prevedenih na više od 20 jezika. Također je radila kao scenarista, te je upravo ona autor orginalnog scenarija filma „Dan Nezavisnosti“. Trenutno živi u Cambridgeu, Massachusetts, sa mužem i dva sina.
