Funkcija
[uredi | uredi izvor]Protein kodiran ovim genom je član neuron-specifične porodice proteina koji vezuju kalcij u mrežnjači i mozgu.[9] Veoma je sličan ljudskom hipokalcinskom proteinu i skoro identičan hipokalcinu sličnim-1 proteinima pacova i miša. Može biti uključen u kalcij ovisnu regulaciju fosforilacije rodopsina, a može biti od značaja za neuronsku signalizaciju u centralnom nervnom sistemu. Postoje dvije alternativno prerađene varijante transkripta ovog gena, sa više mjesta poliadenilacija.[7]
