Pokretači ''Behara'' su bili [[Edhem Mulabdić]], [[Safvet-beg Bašagić]] i [[Osman Nuri Hadžić]]. Behar je časopis pokrenut 1900. godine namijenjen muslimanskoj porodici sa podnaslovom List za pouku i zabavu. Pokretači Behara su bili Edhem Mulabdić, Safvet-beg Bašagić i Osman Nuri Hadžić. Veletrgovac iz Tešnja Ademaga Mešić je osigurao financijsku stranu izlaženja lista, te se smatrao i vlasnikom Behara. [2] Prvi broj časopisa je izašao 1. maja 1900. Neprekidno je izlazio deset godina, dva puta mjesečno. Od 1927-45. godine nastavio je izlaziti pod nazivom Novi Behar. Časopis je objavio mnogo bošnjačkih balada, kao i građu iz područja usmene književnosti.[3] Od 1993. godine časopis pod istim imenom Behar izdaje Kulturno društvo Bošnjaka Hrvatske Preporod [4]
