C-C motiv koji liči na hemokin 4 je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom CCL4L1.[3][4][5][6]
CCL4L2 je telomerna kopija gena CCL4L1. Sekvenciranjem BAC klona smještenog u segmentnoj duplikaciji na hromoomu 17, sekvenca q12, identificirane su dvije cjelovite kopije gena CCL3L1 i CCL4L1.
Dužina polipeptidnog lanca je 92 aminokiseline, a molekulska težina 10.166 Da.[7]

Ovaj gen je jedan od nekoliko citokinskih gena na q-kraku hromosoma 17. Citokini su porodica izlučenih proteina koji su uključeni u imunoregulatorne i upalne procese. Ovaj protein sličan je CCL4 koji inhibira ulazak HIV-a, vezujući se za ćelijski receptor CCR5. Broj kopija ovog gena razlikuje se među osobama; većina ima 1-5 kopija u diploidnom genomu, iako rijetke osobe uopće ne sadrže ovaj gen. Ljudski genomski referentni sklop sadrži dvije kopije ovog gena. Ovaj transript predstavlja centromerne gene.[6]
