Oscilacija (diferencijalna jednačina)

U matematici, u oblasti običnih diferencijalnih jednačina, netrivijalno rješenje obične diferencijalne jednačine

$F(x,y,y',\ \dots ,\ y^{(n-1)})=y^{(n)}\quad x\in [0,+\infty )$

naziva se oscilatornim ako ima beskonačan broj korijena (ili beskonačan broj nula), dok se u ostalim slučajevima naziva neoscilatorna. Diferencijalna jednačina se naziva oscilatornom ako ima oscilatorna rješenja.

Primjeri

Diferencijalna jednačina

$y''+y=0$

je oscilatorna, pošto je sin(x), koja je oscilatorna (periodična) funkcija, rješenje ove diferencijalne jednačine.
