RPS4Y1
40S ribosomski protein S4, Y izoforma 1 je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom RPS4Y1.[4][5][6]
Citoplazmatski ribosomi, organele koje kataliziraju sintezu proteina, sastoje se od male 40S i velike 60S podjedinice. Zajedno se ove podjedinice sastoje od četiti tipa molekula RNK i približno 80 strukturno različitih proteina. Ovaj gen kodira ribosomski protein S4, komponentu podjedinice 40S. Ribosomski protein S4 jedini je ribosomski protein za koji je poznato da ga kodira više od jednog gena. To su ovaj gen, RPS4Y2 i ribosomski protein S4, X-vezani (RPS4X).Tri izoforme kodirane ovim genima nisu identične, ali izgleda da su funkcijski ekvivalenti.[7] Ribosomski protein S4 pripada porodici S4E ribosomskih proteina. Sugerira se da haploinsuficijencija gena ribosomskog proteina S4 ima ulogu u Turnerovom sindromu; ova hipoteza je, međutim, kontroverzna.[4]
