HIRA-interaktivni protein 3 je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom HIRIP3.[5][6]
Gross (2012) mapirao je je gen HIRIP3 u hromosom 16, sekvenca 16p11.2, na osnovu poravnanja sekvence HIRIP3 (GenBank AJ223349) sa genomskom sekvencom (GRCh37).
Protein HIRA sličan je sekvenci s Hir1p i Hir2p, dva korepresora transkripcije histonskog gena koji se karakteriziraju u kvascu Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Strukturne karakteristike HIRA proteina sugeriraju da može funkcionirati kao dio proteinskog kompleksa. Nedavno je identificirano nekoliko cDNK koje kodiraju HIRA-interaktivne proteine ili HIRIP-ove. In vitro, genski proizvod HIRIP3 veže HIRA, kao i histonska jezgra H2B i H3, što ukazuje da bi kompleks koji sadrži HIRA-HIRIP3 mogao funkcionisati u nekim aspektima metabolizma hromatina i histona.[6]
