Neuropeptid B je kratki, biološki aktivan peptid čiji je prekursor u ljudi kodiran genom NBP. Neuropeptid B djeluje putem dva G-vezana receptora, neuropeptidni B/W receptori, zvani NPBW1 i NPBW2 kodirani genima NPBWR1 i NPBWR2. Smatra se da je neuropeptid B povezan s regulacijom hranjenja, neuroendokrinim sistemom, pamćenjem, učenjem i aferentnim putem bola.[5][6] Eksprimira se u CNS-u, sa visokim nivoima u substantia nigra, hipotalamusu, hipokampusu i kičmenoj moždini.
Dužina polipeptidnog lanca je 125 aminokiselina, sa molekulskom težinom od 13.097.[7].
