Lillian Diana Gish[1] (14. oktobar 1893 – 27. februar 1993) bila je američka glumica. Njena glumačka karijera trajala je 75 godina, od 1912, u kratkim nijemim filmova, do 1987. Nazvana je "Prva dama američkog filma", a zaslužna je za pionirske fundamentalne tehnike filmskog izvođenja.[2] Godine 1999, Američki filmski institut svrstao ju je kao 17. najveću žensku filmsku zvijezdu klasičnog holivudskog filma.

Nakon što je kao dijete glumila na pozornici sa svojom sestrom, bila je istaknuta filmska zvijezda od 1912. do 1920-ih, posebno se povezivala s filmovima reditelja D. W. Griffita. To je uključivalo njenu glavnu ulogu u filmu s najvećom zaradom nijemog doba, Rađanje jedne nacije (1915). Njeni drugi značajni filmovi i predstave iz nijeme ere su: Netrpeljivost (1916), Slomljeni cvjetovi (1919), Put prema istoku (1920), Siročad oluje (1921), La bohème (1926) i The Wind (1928).

U osvit ere zvuka vratila se na scenu i povremeno se pojavljivala u filmu, uključujući poznate glavne uloge u vesternu Dvoboj na suncu (1946) i trileru Noć lovca (1955). Nominirana je za Oscara za najbolju sporednu glumicu za Dvoboj na suncu. Također je glumila kao glavna sporedna uloga u filmu Portret Jennie (1948), Svadba (1978) i Sweet Liberty (1986).

Radila je na televiziji od ranih 1950-ih do 1980-ih, a povukla se nakon što je igrala sa Bette Davis u filmu The Whales of August iz 1987. Tokom svojih kasnijih godina, postala je posvećena zagovornica uvažavanja i očuvanja nijemog filma. Unatoč tome što je poznatija po svom filmskom radu, također je uspjela na sceni, te je primljena u Američku pozorišnu kuću slavnih 1972.[3] Godine 1971. dobila je počasnu nagradu Akademije za svoja postignuća u karijeri. Dobila je nagradu Kennedy centra za doprinos američkoj kulturi kroz scensku umjetnost 1982.
