Polipeptidni alfa glikproteinski hormon je protein kojeg kodira gen CGA.[1]

Gonadotropinski hormoni: horionski gonadotropin (hCG), luteinizirajući hormon (LH), folikulostimulirajući hormon (FSH) i tireostimulirajući hormon (TSH) su heterodimeri koji se sastoje od alfa i beta podjedinica (koje se nazivaju i lanci), a koje su povezane nekovalentno.

Alfa podjedinice ova četiri ljudska glikoproteinska hormona su identične; međutim njihovi beta lanci jedinstveni su i daju biološku specifičnost. Protein kodiran ovim genom je alfa podjedinica i pripada porodici alfa lanaca glikoprotenskih hormona.[2]
